January/February 2012

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:1-3)

Dear Praying Friends and Ministry Partners,

Have you ever felt like giving up? You’re tired. You’ve waited too long. The pain is too great, or the suffering is too intense. David may have had similar feelings while he was being pursued by King Saul. Take heart in the words of this psalm. David didn’t give up; neither should we.

Ministry Update

January was a difficult month for Florin and Maricica as they awaited the delivery of their little girl. Maricica went to the hospital on twice only to return home because she was not ready. As the days went by we were concerned that she would not make it back to the hospital in time. God knew all about this as we prayed for His timing. We so much wanted this baby to be born, but all we could do is wait on the Lord.

Ruth with Rebeca MariaOn the evening of February 4 Florin called the ambulance, but they were not able to make it up the hill into the village because of snow and ice. However, she met them at the bottom of the hill, and they arrived at the hospital safely. The next morning, Rebeca Maria was born, and she weighed just under 8 lbs. Praise the Lord!

We appreciate your prayers for the children who lost their father last September. Last Sunday the oldest daughter, Amalia (14), prayed to receive Jesus Christ! Kim Warner and Ruth had shared the plan of salvation previously, and they did so again this past week. Amalia came to Kim after the service and said she wanted to know how to be saved. In the meantime Satan was doing his best to distract her. While Kim and Amalia were huddled in a corner, there was also a heated argument taking place nearby. Thankfully, he did not hinder her.

Pray for Amalia’s younger sister, Andreea (11). She suffered a compound fracture of her leg while sledding. She was in the hospital for two weeks and needed surgery. Now she is in a cast up to her thigh and is confined to bed. She is also missing school. Pray for her healing and a complete recovery.

Thank you for remembering the people of Luncsoara in prayer,

Dave, Ruth, Celeste, and Amber

European Enrichment Conference

In February we attended the BMM European Enrichment Conference, which was held on the island of Malta. This event happens about every 2-3 years and is made possible primarily through donations. Our only expense was travel for our family.

We had a wonderful time meeting other missionaries from throughout Europe and worshipping together. We were also challenged through messages by Pastor Duke Crawford (from one of our supporting churches, Emmanuel Baptist Church, in Toledo, Ohio) and Pastor T. J. Klapperich (Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, Florida). There was also a special program for the children, which allowed families to attend. Celeste and Amber loved it.

Malta is rich in history and is most known as the island where the apostle Paul was shipwrecked. Today it is a modern European country of around 400,000 people. It is a popular tourist destination with over 1.2 million visitors each year.

Praises

  • Amalia’s decision to receive Christ
  • The safe delivery of Florin and Maricica’s daughter, Rebeca
  • The approval of our team’s association after over a year
  • The European Enrichment Conference

Prayer Requests

  • Our teammates, Travis and Becky Gravley, in the loss of her father. Funeral is March 3.
  • Andreea’s broken leg and recovery
  • Purchase of property for a building in Luncsoara
  • Our ongoing preparation for the Warners’ furlough this year
