Fall 2022

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. (Joshua 1:1-2)

After Moses died, the Lord appointed Joshua to lead the people of Israel into the promised land. Not long after entering the promised land, Joshua faced an early test in the form of the Gibeonites who persuaded Joshua to make a treaty with them. Joshua agreed without seeking the Lord’s counsel. However, that led to significant consequences. How often do we hurry to make decisions without taking time to pray? Learn from the lesson of Joshua and seek the Lord’s will in life’s choices.

Summer Recap

Ruth teaching the Bible lesson during VBSOn August 2-4 we held VBS and Art Camp in Luncsoara. We averaged 40 children during VBS and 15-20 teens for Art Camp. The theme for this year was 'Discovering God’s Fingerprint in Creation.' The time was divided into four sections: Bible lesson, Crafts, Games, and Experiments. We also hosted three short-termers during this time. Luke conducting an 'experiment' during VBSAbby helped Ruth with preparing the VBS crafts. Then we had the privilege of hosting Matt and Mark from a supporting church. They did a wonderful job of helping with VBS/Art Camp, work projects at the church, including repairs to the plaster on the outside of the building and repainting the whole exterior.

Teen woodworking project during Art CampFor Art Camp this year the teens had the choice of cooking international foods or making a small wooden stool that could be disassembled in three pieces. Then, on September 4, we held our annual Back-to-School Festival to encourage education and regular school attendance. Pre-school activity tent during the Back-to-School festivalTurnout was strong for this event, with over 80 children attending, each one receiving a bag of school supplies or other needed items. Dave was responsible for manning the popcorn machine, while Closing ceremony during Back-to-School festivalRuth and Sarah had special activities for the youngest children under the tent behind the building. The next day, we had the privilege of attending the opening ceremony at the elementary school.

Thank you for praying for the Lord's work in Romania!

Fall Ministries

With fall and the beginning of a new school year, we have resumed rehearsals with the teen choir on Sundays after church. The teens have also begun memorizing Luke 2:8-17, which will be recited with the choir as we perform throughout the holiday season. We are continuing to see consistent attendance on Wednesdays for the youth group. We typically have 15-20 in the junior high groups and 4-6 in the high school group. Luke has begun a new series on influences in our lives.

Ruth, Sarah, and Kim are busily preparing for the fall ladies meeting on November 12. Pray for the ladies to be challenged through the special speaker, activities, and fellowship.

Family News

Amber has begun her sophomore year at Miami University, and she has continued to do well. This December will be a special one as Amber, Celeste, and her husband, Ben will be with us over the holiday break for 3 weeks. This will be Ben’s first time to visit Romania, and Celeste is anxious to show him the sites as we experience the holiday season together.
