June/July 2009
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James. 1:2-4)
Dear Praying Friends and Ministry Partners,
Deputation has taught us to wait on the Lord and to trust that His timing is perfect. That waiting has been one of the most difficult aspects of deputation. We have frequently wondered how long it will take to reach the field. We have yearned to hear from those churches where we have developed a close relationship. We have wanted to help carry on the work that has been slowed or stopped because of health needs or personnel changes. But one thing we have learned is that when God makes us wait our faith grows stronger.
Deputation News
Since our last letter we were blessed to have been in six churches. Three were new churches, and three were churches we had visited before or that already support us. We have not been traveling quite as much, which has enabled us to finish small improvements and keep the house ready to show.
We have had numerous showings of our house, and we trust the Lord to provide a buyer soon. In addition to sorting and packing the things to take to Romania, we also need to sell our master bedroom, guest bedroom, and the girls' bedroom furniture, our family room furniture, which includes a sofa bed, a recliner, and a 27" TV. We also have a kitchen table and chairs, a riding mower, and misc. yard equipment. If you know anyone needing to furnish a home or apartment, let us know!
Home School Teacher
We are continuing to seek the Lord’s direction concerning a teacher for the girls next school year. Since our last letter we learned that Maria is not going to be able to go with us. So we have restarted the process of seeking potential candidates. We desire to reach the field in time for the new school year so we can begin language study soon, since our ministry will not formally start until we have learned the language. If you know any teachers who would be interested in possibly pursuing ministry in Romania, please contact us.
Family News
On May 27 Amber celebrated her sixth birthday with a "puppy" themed birthday party. Ruth baked a special "dog dish" cake complete with Co-Co Puff "dog food!"
This week (7/12) Amber is spending the week with Ruth's parents in Crown Point, IN. Celeste left Monday morning for Junior Camp at Scioto Hills Camp. We are praying they won’t be too homesick. We keep telling ourselves the change will be good for them, and it will allow us to get more done at home.
BMM Annual Conference
The Baptist Mid-Missions Annual Conference July 6-9 was refreshing, and we had numerous opportunities to fellowship with our teammates, Travis and Becky Gravley. The preaching series on discernment by Dr. David Doran was a poignant reminder of what is truly at stake in our churches today.
We were thrilled to be part of the "inner circle" prayer time held on the final night of the conference. All the missionaries who are heading back to the field (or going for the first time) form an inner circle that is encircled by the rest of the mission family. It was a powerful ending to a wonderful week.
In His service for the sake of the gospel.

Support Status
Our support level remained unchanged for most of June. Then we learned that Beacon Baptist Church in Nashville, TN as well as two new individuals are planning to support us. Two more individuals are increasing their support, which brings us to 97%. We only need to raise $190 more per month, which means we are still on target for a September 1 departure.
