March 2009
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (Rom. 12:4-5)
Dear Praying Friends and Ministry Partners,
One of the principles of Romans 12 is unity and putting the needs of the body of Christ ahead of our own. It's not easy as our human nature urges us to look out for ourselves. We are to love genuinely (v9); work diligently (v11); pray consistently (v12) and care for others (v13). Ask God to help you utilize the gifts He has given you to build up the body of Christ.
For Sale: 3BR, 2.5 Bath, Tri-level Home
As we get closer to full support, preparing our home for sale has moved to the front burner. We have been slowly working on projects for much of the past year. The exterior of the house was painted and we installed ceramic tile in all the bathrooms and kitchen. Dave just finished painting the master bathroom. Ruth has been steadily going through our closets and the crawl space to get things ready for sale or donation. One of our supporting churches took a large number of Ruth's holiday decorations, which means less to store and go through later.
We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in a good location, 20 miles north of downtown Cincinnati, close to I-75 and I-275. There is a large backyard with mature trees. We are also about two minutes from our sending church. We will be listing it soon, but if you would like to beat the rush, you can buy it now!
Wanted: Home School Teacher
We have also been praying about the possibility of having an educator come and help tutor Celeste and Amber during our first year in Romania as we are enrolled in language school. This was recommended to us by our field administrator as well as several veteran missionaries who have attempted to home school while in language school. What often happens is the wife will begin language school but eventually has to drop out or limit language study because of the time commitment with homeschooling and maintaining the household. We want to make sure that does not happen, so we are actively seeking someone to come and tutor Celeste and Amber while we are enrolled in language school.
This is a huge commitment, but we know the Lord can provide the right person. It may be a single woman who is looking for a new position, or a retired teacher who would be willing to serve the Lord in this unique way. The dates are dependent on our departure, but we are targeting the 2009-10 school year. If you or someone you know is interested, please email us or call.
Support Status
In February we welcomed one more individual and three more churches: Massillon Baptist Temple, Massillon, OH; First Baptist Church, Eaton, OH; and West Hill Baptist Church, Wooster, OH. We have now passed 81% on our support. Our outfit and passage has also risen to 75%.
As you can see the month of March will be one of our busiest. We also will be driving over 2200 miles, so we covet your prayers for safety and that our van will continue to operate smoothly. We are praying that this will be our last big push before we depart for the field.
On March 27 we will be heading to California to be with Ruth's family for her grandmother's 95th birthday and a family reunion. The Lord has also provided three meetings during that trip, including Cedar Avenue Baptist Church where Ruth's mom and dad met during college.
Thank you for remembering our family in prayer.
